Treatment for most eye infections is as simple and straight forward as antibiotics, antiviral eye drops, or prescription oral medication. If a viral infection is accompanied by swelling, it may also require steroid eye drops to reduce the inflammation. The most potent weapon in preventing infection is avoiding contact with your eyes until you wash your hands.
